The Ottawa Redblacks have suspended Greg Ellingson from team activities after the American receiver was charged with failing to provide a breath sample at a roadside screening on Friday morning.
The team issued a statement on Saturday morning.
The Ottawa REDBLACKS are aware that a charge of failing to provide a breath sample into a roadside screening device was laid against Greg Ellingson on Friday morning. The Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group and the REDBLACKS will continue to collect information in this case. In the interim, Ellingson will not be participating in team activities. Because this is a personal legal matter, the REDBLACKS will have no further comment on this specific case at this time.

The 29-year-old Ellingson is coming off his fourth straight 1,00-yard season with the Redblacks after registering 91 catches for 1,086 yards and five touchdowns. He’s also been a high-profile face in the community since joining the team for its inaugural season in 2015.
Ellingson is set to become a free agent in February.
