CFL combine scheduled for March in Toronto

The annual Canadian Football League combine has been set for March 22-24 in Toronto.

The national event was held in Toronto for years until the CFL took it on the road to Saskatchewan in 2017 and Winnipeg in 2018. The combine was combined with star players from around the league descending on the same city to create what’s become known as CFL Week.

However, with the uncertainty surrounding the collective bargaining agreement, which expires in May 2019, the league has opted to put the combine back in a familiar spot instead of holding it in Ottawa as planned,

The consistency of the surface in Toronto will be welcome for the scouts and players. It’s easier to compare times over the years in a facility that’s been tried and true such as the bubble over the University of Toronto football field. Last year, there were concerns about the slippery turf at the RBC Convention Centre in the Manitoba Capital and that athletes were “running into the grain.”

The top prospects will be on display in Canada’s largest city during one of the league’s premier off-season events in 2019.
