Jason Maas will return as Eskimos’ head coach: report

Jason Maas will return as the head coach of the Edmonton Eskimos according to… Jason Maas.

Maas does a weekly radio show with Dave Campbell, Morley Scott part of the broadcast team for radio rights holder CHED. On Wednesday night’s show, Maas said he’ll be back and Scott’s broadcast partner Dave Campbell Tweeted out the news.

We’re assuming that Campbell just forgot the word “made” in his Tweet, as in “the decision has been made about his future.” We’re also not going chirp anyone else about typos, especially on Twitter.

There were reports that Maas had lost the Eskimos’ dressing room – vehemently denied by Maas, quarterback Mike Reilly and GM Brock Sunderland – and SportsNet’s Arash Madani reported that Sunderland had been quietly shopping for possible replacements (also denied.) And, it should be said, just because Maas didn’t get fired doesn’t mean Sunderland didn’t make some quiet inquiries.

Anyway, it looks like Maas is back so we can look forward to at least one more season of questionable in-game decision-making and sideline tantrums.

Though maybe he can convince Mike Reilly to return, which would be good.

Here’s a link to the show.
