With the Week 19 games in the books, here’s a quick first glance at the playoff scenarios. I’ll post a more detailed look at some of the weird-ass tiebreakers on Sunday.
For now, here’s what you need to know.
• Calgary can clinch the West Division and a first round bye with a win over Winnipeg next Friday or a loss by Saskatchewan on Saturday.
• Saskatchewan can clinch a home playoff date with a win, a tie or a loss by two points or less over B.C. on Saturday (the Riders have one win over the Lions and a three point advantage in point differential.)
• Winnipeg can clinch a playoff spot with a win over Calgary.
• a Winnipeg win eliminates Edmonton from playoff contention.
• the Riders can finish first in the West by beating B.C. and having Calgary lose its two remaining games.
• B.C. can still finish second in the West (and host a home playoff game) if they beat Saskatchewan by four or more points (thereby winning the season series) and beat Calgary in Week 21.
• Ottawa clinches the East Division with a win over Hamilton. The Ticats need a win over the Redblacks, a win over Montreal in Week 21 and a loss by Ottawa against Toronto to win the East.
