Marc Trestman to referee Al Bradbury: ‘You’re lucky I’m mic’d tonight’

The live mic games haven’t produced a ton of interesting audio, mostly indecipherable play calls and quarterbacks calling out the days of the week as part of their cadence.

But there was a little bit of raw emotion on display Friday night when Toronto Argonauts’ head coach Marc Trestman threatened to go nuclear on referee Al Bradbury after a pass interference call in Friday’s game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Trestman challenged the play – the flag was thrown late and only after Ticats’ Brandon Banks petitioned hard for it – and let Bradbury know exactly how he felt.

“That was not pass interference,” he said before laying into Bradbury. “Al, you’re lucky I’m mic’d tonight. I’ve never said a word to you in seven years and I’m not going to say a word tonight. But you’re lucky I’m mic’d. It’s not right.”

Trestman lost the challenge because, well, of course he did.

Trestman’s mic picked up a long, exasperated sigh after the ruling and… well, hopefully he just lets it fly next time. Because there will be a next time.

Sure enough…
