USports roundup: six undefeated teams left

WATERLOO, Ont. – Michael Domagala connected on a 22-yard field goal with eight seconds left in the fourth quarter as the Carleton Ravens squeaked past the Waterloo Warriors 21-18 on Saturday in Canadian university football action.

Quarterback Aaron Igiehon completed 16-of-28 passes for 272 yards and a pair of touchdowns to help Carleton improve to 2-1 on the season. Domagala finished with a pair of field goals and two converts.

Receiver Dominic Walker had five receptions for 130 yards, catching both of Igiehon’s TD passes.

Tre Ford threw two touchdown passes for Waterloo (2-1) in the fourth quarter to tie the game 18-18 and set up Domagla’s heroics. Ford finished with 321 yards on 29-of-39 passes.

Ford also rushed for 104 yards and running back Dion Pellerin had 72 yards.

SACKVILLE, Que. – QB Kaleb Scott was 19-for-33 in the air with 220 yards and two touchdowns as Saint Mary’s downed (3-0) Mount Allison (1-1) for its third win a in a row.

KINGSTON, Ont. – QB Nate Hobbs threw for 386 yards and had a touchdown strike as Queen’s (2-1) routed Toronto. Defensive back Caleb Zigby had a 62-yard interception for Toronto’s (0-2) only touchdown of the game.

OTTAWA – Dawson Odei rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown, and Campbell Fair hit a 12-yard field goal as Ottawa (2-1) edged out a win over Guelph (1-2) with a fourth-quarter safety.

MONTREAL – James Tyrrell caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from QB Adam Vance as the game expired to complete the comeback for Concordia (2-1), which trailed Sherbrooke (1-3) by 15 with six minutes left in the fourth quarter.

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – QB Hunter Guenard connected with Cordell Hastings for two touchdowns, throwing for 263 yards, as Acadia (1-1) grabbed an early lead over Bishop’s (0-3) and never let go.

MONTREAL – David Cote was 4-for-4 on field goals to power Laval’s offence as it (3-0) stayed perfect with a win against Montreal (1-1). Laval QB Hugo Richard was 20-for-29 with 212 yards in the air.

LONDON, Ont. _ Cedric Joseph rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns, while Chris Merchant threw for 354 yards and a TD as the defending Vanier Cup winners Western (2-0) thumped McMaster (1-2) to remain undefeated.

CALGARY – Quarterback Adam Sinagra threw five touchdown passes – including one for 107 yards to Tyson Philpot – as the Calgary Dinos toppled the UBC Thunderbirds 57-7 on Friday in U Sports football action.

Sinagra finished 15-of-24 for 372 yards, with two TD passes to both Philpot and Hunter Carl and another to Justin Julien to lead the Dinos (2-0).

Philpot had 186 receiving yards on 11 catches while Joe Cant returned an interception 24 yards for a TD.

Michael O’Connor was 17 for 30 for 204 yards and a pick for the Thunderbirds (1-1), who trailed 31-7 at the half. He rushed for a 24-yard TD in the second quarter for his team’s lone score.

TORONTO – QB Brett Hunchak threw for 263 yards and two TDs to help York (1-2) get past Windsor (0-3) for its first win of the season.

WINNIPEG – QB Kyle Siemens had four TD passes and the Saskatchewan (2-0) defence halted a game-tying, two-point convert late in the fourth to hold on and beat Manitoba (0-2).

EDMONTON – Receiver Ryan Schienbein caught three TD passes from QB Noah Picton and had 176 yards on 13 catches as Regina (1-1) beat Alberta (1-1).
