Riders QB Zach Collaros suffers another head injury, in concussion protocol

Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Zach Collaros has left the Banjo Bowl against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after taking a big hit in the fourth quarter.

Collaros was slammed into the turf after Bombers defender Jeff Hecht came in unblocked off the edge. The Riders quarterback also fumbled the football and it was recovered by Winnipeg.

Collaros had thrown from 173 yards and an interception when he was replaced by Brandon Bridge.

TSN’s Sara Orlesky reported that Collaros was put into concussion protocol and would not return.

The injury is a concern given that Collaros missed games earlier this season with a head and neck injury.  He also sat out three games due to a head injury in 2016 and missed time in 2014 after suffering a concussion.
