He was waived by the Washington Redskins on Sunday. Knox Jr. was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in May. The Riders released Knox Jr. in January – he was a pending CFL free agent – to pursue that NFL opportunity.
Saskatchewan brought Knox Jr. back into the fold after he 26-year-old was among the final cuts after the Bucs completed training camp in 2017. He was released by Chris Jones and the Riders that January to sign with Tampa Bay.
Knox Jr. played in eight games for the Riders making 23 tackles, seven special teams tackles and one sack last season. Prior to that, he played two seasons with Saskatchewan making 177 tackles, 29 special teams tackles, one sack and one interception in 35 games. He was named a CFL West All-Star after his rookie CFL season in 2015.
