Duron Carter is yesterday’s news to Riders head coach Chris Jones

Duron Carter is old news to Chris Jones, so don’t ask him about it anymore.

“That’s yesterday’s news,” Jones said Wednesday when asked if he noticed a difference in the team at practice.

The Riders head coach and general manager was asked if he tried to trade Carter prior to releasing the star receiver.

“That’s why I’m not answering it. No. That’s why I’m not answering anything, it’s yesterday’s news,” Jones said tersely.

Carter said the phone call was direct and to the point, much like Jones’ answer to reporters questions about the star receiver.

“It was a 30-second conversation. He told me he appreciates what I did on offence and defence and that they were going in a different direction. I said ‘alright coach’ and that was the conversation,” Carter said.

Just like that the Riders, Jones and Carter are moving on.
