Riders neg lister, Canadian TE Adam Zaruba hopes to land NFL practice roster spot

Canadian tight end Adam Zaruba reached an injury settlement with the Philadelphia Eagles and cleared waivers making him a free agent.

According to Postmedia and Toronto Sun NFL reporter John Kryk Zaruba is focused on getting another NFL opportunity.

In a message sent via Twitter Direct Message to Postmedia, Zaruba on Monday said he will rehab the strained hamstring for the remainder of the month in Vancouver, and hope to land a practice-squad roster spot with an NFL club after Sept. 1 cutdowns.

The former Canadian rugby sensation, Zaruba signed a reserve/futures deal with the Eagles in January but has been released waived part way through training camp. The 24-year-old, six-foot-five and 265-pounder was playing tight end.

Zaruba worked out for Philadelphia in July 2017 and attended training camp in Philly. He was released among final cuts and his CFL rights are owned by Saskatchewan after the Riders added him to the neg list.
