Delvin Breaux misses Ticats practice, a ‘game time decision’ vs Bombers

The biggest news out of Ticats practice on Wednesday – their last on-field session before Friday’s game in Winnipeg – is that cornerback Delvin Beaux isn’t practicing.

Breaux was injured mid-way through Tuesday’s session when he collided with a receiver during a a team session and was down on the field for several minutes before walking off the field and eventually going to the locker room. Head coach June Jones said afterwards that Breaux had suffered a neck injury and given his history – he suffered a broken neck in high school – Jones said they were going to be cautious.

Jones said Wednesday that Breaux will be a “game time decision.

Breaux has played very well since rejoining the team – he has just six tackles and no interceptions in six games largely because quarterbacks are unwilling or unable to challenge him.

With Breaux out, the Ticats had Mariel Cooper and John Green spending time at the boundary corner. Cooper started the season as the leading contender for SAM but got hurt and has played in just one game this season. He’s got good size at 5-foot-11, 192 pounds but doesn’t have much CFL experience. Green  has also played in one game this season.
