Johnny Manziel’s second CFL pass was caught but by the other team, not the start Johnny Football envisioned to his Canadian career.

Johnny Manziel’s 1st CFL pass — ugly interception. The road back to the NFL just got a little longer.

Manziel completed 9-of-16 passes for 90 yards and four interceptions as Montreal was down 28-0 through 15 minutes and 38-3 at the break. The rough opening 30 minutes lit up social media – Johnny Manziel was trending on Twitter.

28-0 ties the largest ever lead/deficit after one quarter in #CFL.
It has happened three times previously most recently Aug 27/98, EDM 28, SSK 0— Tim Capper (@reppact) August 4, 2018
In case you’re wondering @cfl record for interceptions thrown in a game is 7, shares by 4 players. Record in a 1st start is 5. @CFLonTSN

The #CFL isn’t a joke. It’s not some league where you can just “ball out”
— Matthew Scianitti (@TSNScianitti) August 4, 2018
It is just so irresponsible to be starting Manziel tonight. He’s so far from ready after one week there.
But, desperation for crowds and ratings and to try and find some answer for a franchise run on #forensics and not football, and this is how it goes….

Johnny Manziel may be a teachable moment: the CFL is little, and it’s not the NFL. But it’s a real football league, and a hard place to succeed in.

Rough debut for Johnny Manziel.
Manziel’s 4 interceptions are the most in a CFL game this season.
Johnny Manziel is averaging 8 interceptions a game in the CFL

How often does something like this happen in the NFL?
Nathan Peterman is the only QB to throw 4 Int in the 1st half over the last 10 seasons.
That’s it. pic.twitter.com/oWHs0I8Pc4

This much you can say: After all that practice time in Hamilton, Johnny Manziel’s first CFL start couldn’t be going much better for the Ticats.

In Johnny Manziel’s CFL debut, he has 4 interceptions and his team trails 38-3 at halftime. It’s like he never left the Browns.

Some current and former CFL players weren’t shy to share their opinion on Manziel. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner had four practices before his first CFL start in Montreal.
He shouldn’t have been put in this situation, but when an organization wants to sell tickets this is what you get.

Did I tell u that I feel bad for @JManziel2. This is pro football, if they cared about his career they wouldn’t have put him in this situation. They did it to pack the stands. I hope u can grow from this J, I know Ur passionate about playing. #Respect

This is what happens when an organization with ZERO leadership at the top picks Marketing Over Football. I feel so sorry for Johnny Manziel. How bout you pan to a shot of #Kavis for a change??? Oh…that’s right. Nvmd. #CFL

Manziel is the savior? 3 Ints in the first 10 passes? 6/10 and 3/4 ints? When is someone gonna let NFL guys know that players in Canada are foreal? #2

“He can make plays, but he’s got to be smart with the football,” head coach Mike Sherman told TSN at halftime.
Manziel has certainly thrown s%** load of interceptions.
