Vernon Adams ‘hurt’ after hearing ‘We want Johnny’ chants from Alouettes fans

Montreal quarterback Vernon Adams definitely heard the Alouettes faithful calling for Johnny Manziel to play.

In the Manziel’s first game with the Alouettes last Thursday, a significant portion of the 16,654 fans at Percival Molson Stadium were chanting “we want Johnny” while Adams was in the game.

“Yes, it hurt me to hear that. I have nothing more to say or to give to the supporters of Montreal. Never again. Their behaviour was very disrespectful. It was not like I was playing badly. I do not want them to ask me anything, not even a small piece of equipment,” Adams told La Presse.

Adams completed 15-of-28 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown while leading the team in rushing yards with 72 on eight carries to go with a touchdown in a loss to the Edmonton Eskimos during Week 7.

“I do not care what the situation is. It was a lack of respect and it affected me,” Adams said.

“But that’s fine, in the future, I’ll treat the fans as they treated me, that’s all. ”

The 25-year-old made amends on Tuesday.

“I was just emotional. I need to be better. I would never disrespect a fan or anything like that.” Adams said.

“I do want to apologize to the Montreal fans.”
