Riders sign former Ticats Canadian OL Braden Schram

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed national offensive lineman Braden Schram to a two-year deal.

Schram was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on June 28 after selecting him in the second round of the 2017 CFL Draft. The 25-year-old dressed in one game for the Ticats as a rookie. The Tabbies largely moved on from Schram due to a surplus of Canadian offensive lineman.

Schram has the requisite size – 6-foot-4, 312 pounds – and came out of the offensive line factory that is the University of Calgary as an All-Canadian calibre player in USports. Personnel men falt Schram was a versatile piece up front when he left the Dinos.

The Riders have Canadian offensive linemen Brendon LaBatte, Dan Clark, Dariusz Bladek on the active roster, Josiah St. John on the six-game injured list and Chad Teskey on the practice roster.

Adding Schram is a smart move for the Riders as the team needs to improve it’s national depth along the offensive line.
