Ticats lose Canadian REC Shamawd Chambers for the season with ACL

Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Shamawd Chambers will miss the 2018 season with a torn ACL, per sources.

Chambers made 28 catches for 279 yards in seven games for the Ticats last season after coming over in a trade with Edmonton. The Eskimos received a seventh-round pick in the 2018 CFL draft and a 2019 fifth-round selection for Chambers. The 28-year-old pass target played in six of the Eskimos 12 games last season, making four receptions for 40 yards.

Chambers won a Grey Cup with Edmonton in 2015, earning Most Valuable Canadian honours. He Chambers was drafted in the first round, sixth overall by Edmonton in the 2012 CFL draft, current Ticats general manager Eric Tillman was the Eskimos GM at the time.
