Johnny Manziel has almost 2.3 million followers on Twitter and another 2 million on Instagram, so it’s hardly surprising that he’s already something of a recognizable face in Hamilton.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback said Thursday that he’s been exploring the city since signing with the team on May 20 and has been stopped by some well-meaning fans.
“I’m finding my bearings here. I’m finding where to get a haircut, I’m finding where to eat. I’m finding where to go get the things I need,” Manziel said. “I’ve taken pictures with a couple people around. I’m kind of used to it by now.”
 Manziel is currently sporting the beginnings of a training camp beard but said he plans to get a fresh cut and shave in time for Friday’s pre-season opener against the Toronto Argonauts. He says he’s looking forward to playing in front of Ticats fans for the first time.
“Everyone has been great, from you guys to the people in the organization, people around town,” he said. “I have nothing bad to say and I greatly appreciate being welcomed with open arms.”
