The Saskatchewan Roughriders have seen two key players suffer injuries in practice the last two days.
Canadian offensive lineman Josiah St. John, the 2016 No. 1 overall selection, left Thursday’s practice with a nagging hamstring injury.
“We’re still evaluating where he is. It’s one of those unfortunate things that we have to contend with as pro football coaches. I wouldn’t expect St. John back for a while,” Riders head coach Chris Jones said.
St. John played in 10 games his rookie season and only one last year. The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his three-year contract.
Meanwhile, Chad Owens suffered a setback on Friday.

Owens signed with the Riders before the 2017 CFL season and played three games catching 17 balls for 225 yards and one touchdown after fighting through a foot injury. The 36-year-old, nine-year veteran can be productive when healthy.
“He’s still nicked up. Right now we’re still evaluating,” Jones said.
Owens won the CFL MOP award in 2012 and he has two Grey Cup championships on his resume. He can provide play-making ability as a receiver and returner.
