Riders sign draft picks, add some Saskatchewan flavour

The Saskatchewan Roughriders made a bevvy of roster moves on Wednesday, including the addition of a couple of territorial junior players.

The Riders have also signed three of their draft picks: linebacker Micah Teitz (No. 14 overall), defensive lineman Mathieu Breton (No. 36) and defensive lineman Tresor Bauma-Mafuta (No. 45.) The team’s first-round pick, offensive lineman Dakoda Shepley, has been signed by the New York Jets and won’t be at Saskatchewan’s training camp.

The team has also added Canadian running back Bryce Vieira, presumably to provide some depth behind key free agent signing Jerome Messam.

The juniors are from the Saskatoon Hilltops, defensive back Colton Holmes and linebacker Cody Peters. Draft picks and junior players are “non-counters” and don’t apply to the 75-man roster limit.

The team also announced that University of Saskatchewan quarterback Mason Nyhus will be at camp as part of the CFL’s Canadian QB internship program.
