Ticats OL Ryan Bomben traded to the Alouettes

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have traded Canadian offensive lineman Ryan Bomben to the Montreal Alouettes in exchange for the first overall pick in the 2018 CFL Draft.

The 30-year-old has played three seasons for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, starting 48 games and was a CFL East Division all-star the last two years. Bomben is entering the final season of his contract.

The deal sees the Ticats acquire four draft picks from the Alouettes, including Montreal’s first (1^st overall), fourth (31^st overall) and sixth (44^th overall) in this year’s draft, as well as the Als’ natural second-round selection in 2019. In addition to Bomben, the Alouettes get international receiver Jamal Robinson, Hamilton’s first (2^nd overall), fourth (34^th overall) and seventh (56^th overall) round selections in 2018 as well as a player from Hamilton’s negotiation list.

Bomben was acquired in a deal with the Alouettes prior to the 2015 CFL draft that sent a first and third round pick to Montreal. Bomben, a Burlington native, was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 draft by Montreal.
