The Lions were “heavily fined” after releasing Awe with a year remaining on his CFL contract. The 24-year-old played in 18 games making 54 tackles, 16 special teams tackles and one forced fumble last year for the Leos.
Commissioner Randy Ambrosie has insisted players honour their contracts and teams follow the rules.
