Ticats save jersey No. 2 just in case Johnny’s coming

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have brought a whopping 60 players to mini-camp this week – but the most intriguing digit is No. 2.

The Ticats did not assign that number to any player attending mini-camp, despite the fact that single digits are often the most popular.

Head coach June Jones was asked if perhaps the team was saving that number for quarterback Johnny Manziel, who is on the team’s negotiation list and wore No. 2 at both Texas A&M, where he won Heisman trophy, and with the Cleveland Browns.

“That’s a very good question. I’m not going to give you my two cents on that because he’s not here right now but I will if he does show up,” Jones said.
