Blue Bombers’ profit jump to $5.1 million in 2017

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced a profit of $5.1 million in 2017, an increase of over $2 million from a year ago.

According to the club, revenues increased $2.9 million to $32.5 million while expenses were up just $700,000 over the same period.

The Bombers saw attendance increase six per cent to an average of 27,400, hosted a playoff game and also a jump in corporate partnerships, retail sales, and food and beverage revenue – all of which helped the bottom line. Non-football events also played a role.

Expenses were pegged at $27.4 million with no increase in the football operations budget.

The club also made a payment of $3.5 million to Triple B Stadium Inc. as part of its portion of the construction of Investors Group Field, which opened in 2013. The Bombers have supported the public transportation costs associated with the stadium to the tune of $3.8 million.
