Winnipeg Blue Bombers

After moving on from Henoc Muamba, Bombers bring in former NFL LB

After deciding to move on from the pursuit of Canadian Henoc Muamba, the Bombers are clearly going American at the middle linebacker position.

Former NFL linebacker Quentin Gause has been signed by the Winnipeg Football Club.

The 25-year-old went unselected in the 2016 NFL draft, however, Philadelphia inked Gause to an undrafted free agent contract. He was released after training camp with the Eagles. The New England Patriots scooped him up just days later where he spent just under a month on the practice squad. Gause was brought in by the Denver Broncos and after nearly two months on the practice squad, he was promoted to the active roster, playing in three games making two tackles in 2016. The Broncos released Gause after training camp in 2017.

Gause was a two-year starter at Rutgers University where he made 168 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, three passes defended, two sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

At Rutgers pro day in 2016, Gause ran in the 4.60 40-yard range, 7.00 three-cone, 4.15 short shuttle, 11.53 in the 60-yard shuttle, recorded a 36-inch vertical leap and a nine-foot, nine-inch broad jump and repped 225 pounds 23 times on the bench press. Gause is clearly athletic for his size – six-foot, 243 pounds.

Jovan Santos-Knox heads into mini-camp and training camp as the likely starter in the middle, but he’ll surely be challenged by Gause.
