Lions sign former Eskimos and Ticats DB Marcell Young

The Lions have signed defensive back Marcell Young.

Young was released at the end of March by the Eskimos.

He had inked a contract extension through the 2019 season in February 2017 with Edmonton but played just seven games in 2017 missing 11 due to injury.

Young moved from Hamilton to Edmonton while Ed Hervey then-Eskimos turned Lions general manager signed him as a free agent in February 2013. The 30-year-old played five seasons with the Eskimos making 199 tackles and three interceptions in 74 games. He was on the Eskimos 2015 Grey Cup championship team.

Young began his CFL career in Hamilton where he played for two seasons recording 63 tackles and three interceptions in 23 games.
