Eskimos add former CFLer Kelly Bates as team rounds out coaching staff

Jason Maas unveiled his Eskimos coaching staff for the 2018 season and one of the new additions is a former teammate and offensive lineman Kelly Bates.

Bates will be the offensive quality control coach for the Eskimos.

Maas and Bates spent part of the 2010 season together in Edmonton. He played 10 years in the CFL winning two Grey Cups – both with the Lions – adding those to a Vanier Cup championship from his time at the University of Saskatchewan. In 2011 Bates moved to coaching B.C.’s offensive line and the Leos running backs from 2012-2014.
