You’re right. CFL record $1MM plus on injured players. They should be a very good team this year if injuries don’t bite again, Edward. Lost Ladler on defence but Howard, Hunt only had 1 sack between them, Boateng had 4 so changes had to be made. Tried Thompson at SAM but, what else, achilles took him down & likely returns mid-season. Bazzie younger than Willis & has touch more career sacks/game. Eskimos probably have best DT’s in CFL with Sewell, Bowers & Ceresna on rotation. Moore played some DT as well as DE & had 2 sacks, 2 tackles for loss, 6 pressures in 5 games. Have to give credit to Sunderland – he pretty much signed everyone but Figueroa & they lost him last minute to BC. Looks like a very good club & much younger this year. Only 1 starter over 30 on D. We’ll see how it goes. West will be tough regardless.

So I’m curious. Who do you see 1 &2. I see BC at 5. Edm & Cal I see 1 & 2. Difference with Riders & Alberta teams in my view, at this stage ( a lot can still change), is this. As brief as I can make it, on offence, Stamps, Esks have elite QB’s, young, very good OL’s, strong receivers. Esks have edge at RB. Gable, White (if healthy) top notch & probably best 2 blocking backs in league. Stamps have to be question at RB. Riders all dependent on OL. 4 returnees over 30 & faded down stretch. 1st half Glenn in MOP conversation, last few games pulled due to pressure. If OL holds up, Collaros is good & running game isn’t last like 2017. On defence, all 3 clubs have very good DL’s, very good DB’s. Riders don’t have the proven LB’s that the Alberta teams have right now. I think Riders are better than Wpg because of defence. Bombers lost Westerman, Heath, gained Fenner. Have to prove they don’t give up 7,000 yds for 3rd straight year. But you could throw all 5 clubs into a hat & draw & may be right.
