Yeah there for sure are lots of corp seats that are paid and unused, but I also thought the Ticats give tickets to local groups in the community as well. Not sure if that number is in the thousands but you’d think they’d pull some of those back if they can sell them instead. More important to have bodies in the stadium than not. You’ll prob see a spike in season seats as well which is good news.

I think this whole process/experience has humbled him, when you watch him in his interviews and the things he tweets, it could be an act but he really doesn’t seem like the same guy. I think he’s legit really scared he’s almost done at the age of 25. We’re his last chance.

On that note, he’s known to be quite loyal, look how hard he reps A&M. If he’s treated fairly in Hamilton (and I suspect he will be) I think he will be great for the team, the fans, the city, and the league. Esp if he is able to jump-start his career.

Wether they’re give aways or not, somebody is paying for those corporate tickets. I agree that concessions might increase, but company that runs the THF food stands can barely shuffle through the customer they already have.

Maybe I’m jaded because I can’t stand his smug attitude, but I would think his jerseys and paraphenalia would only appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Ticket sales won’t be a rev boost re: sellout unless there’s a number of giveaway tickets that are sold instead, and people who buy/receive tickets and wouldnt normally show up do come and spend money at the stadium.

Beyond that, Manziel needs to sign 2-year deal, he won’t disappear that fast unless he can’t play. Those jerseys/tshirts/hats are going to fly off the shelves. As a rookie he led the NFL in jersey sales, for the BROWNS. He’s already selling Spring League jerseys/merch on his personal website. No idea on sales obviously, but wait til there’s proper merch from an actual meaningful league/team with actual fans.

And what revenue would that be, John? Didn’t we already discuss this? Hamilton sells out 97.6% for EVERY game. How is Manziel going to boost revenue? Who is going to lay out any cash for a Manzeil jersey when the guy is obviously gone at the first sniff from some desperate NFL team? You are delusional.

Do you know that US networks get CFL games for almost nothing?

Media contracts are in place with TSN in Canada, so yep dont see how there is a bump there. Possible bump in revs would be a US network picking up games. ESPN already shows CFL games but don’t see how that could prevent a CBS/NBC/any network affiliate deciding to pick up some games. Remains to be seen though.

IF he is as serious as he says he is about the NFL, he will put the work in to show he can learn an offence. It’s his last, last, last, last option. There is no benefit for him to come here and not try, he won’t make “worthwhile” money and it won’t lead to the NFL. So why even do it at that point?
