The 31-year-old was drafted by Jacksonville in the seventh round, 253rd overall of the 2009 NFL draft out of Rutgers University. He’s from New Brunswick, New Jersey and the Lafayette campus is located in New York City.

“Because of his background, Tiquan has a familiarity with the area and brings a recognizable name that will resonate with recruits and high school coaches in New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania,” head coach John Garrett, brother of Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason, said in a statement.

“Throughout his career, Tiquan established a reputation for being one of the hardest workers on the team who possessed an insatiable desire to improve. He is equipped to teach NFL-level techniques to our receivers and will be a tremendous role model for our student-athletes.”

Perhaps Underwood coaches in the CFL down the line as his playing career has come to a close.
