Puck hog, the point is that coaches salaries ARE NOT limited by a salary cap. If total expenditures of players and coaches were both held jointly accountable to a cap, perhaps some teams (smart ones) would allocate more to the players.
I’ve always found it dubious that teams need to have a dozen coaches anyway. Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator and maybe one additional coach is enough.

Next change: Start revealing salary details. They let us know what the team salary cap is ($5.2 million), so why not individual contract details?
During all the recent free agent signings, we were informed us many supposed amounts, such as Jamaal Westerman’s $240,000 estimate. How accurate are the reports? Hard to say considering that they aren’t authorized CFL reports.
Another possible idea would be to INCLUDE Coaching salaries in an increased combined cap of perhaps $7-8 million for players & coaches.

A interesting list and some well know players listed but instead of calling it a neg list call it another version of the draft per say. I’d list ALL THE PLAYERS for the fans to see, limit any player to 1 year on that list. If the team holding the rights can’t sign em then trade em or release them from the list so they become a true free agent. Wonder if the personnel depts. of each team even let these players know of their neg. rights on a regular basis? If they don’t the list is just that simply a LISTING of PLAYERS.

Teams can play this any way they want. BC has EIGHT QB’s on their initial 10, which doesn’t give away much of anything. Not surprised Kaepernick is on the Als list, but he’s never coming north. The same can be said for a bunch of these prospects.

Josh Freeman’s QBR during his last two years in the NFL is on par with Kaep’s last two seasons. Kaepernick never threw for 4000 yards in a season, Freeman did. In fact, Freeman threw for more yards in each of his 3 full seasons as a starter than Kaep did in any of his seasons. Kaepernick never threw 25 TD’s or more in a single season, Freeman did, twice. Freeman is also 2 months younger, has less mileage and carries no baggage.
