Any GM in the league would have tried to trade SJ, coming off that injury the odds were that he would under perform. His salary was huge! Much respect to him for his hard work and defying the odds and coming back to have one hell of a season.

It is a fair argument, why do you think they announce less than four hours after his conversation with his GM. Seems contrived, especially if you follow Thorpe, he loves the guy. As far as timeline is concerned I am sure it is being scrutinized.

Head case is right. John Bowman is the most popular player here by a landslide. Hebert has had his ups and downs, clearly proving in the end his inability to put team before self and creating a major distraction during free agency.

He landed with the only GM in the league that would take him after his antics. He was the one who initiated the power play knowing exactly what would happen having already set up a place to land. Cato and Adams BOTH got starts, and the Alouettes won the majority of their games from that point on. Miracle enough, considering the season up to that point.

In Cato’s last game, he ran 70+ yards on one play, shocking pretty much everyone. The future looked bright, with two young stars in the making, and the best defensive unit in the CFL.

Then Kavis Reed did his magic. Cut Cato. Then SJ Green, Bear Woods, and a slew of defensive players, took all that potential and threw it into the garbage.

All so Reed and Durant could re-enact their most infamous moment, “TOO MANY MEN SASKATCHEWAN” in slowmo and carelessly unpacked so we could all watch our team fall into the dust.

There are reasons Reed was made GM. I’ve done my best to explain them. But as far as answering the vexed question, “how good a GM is Kavis Reed?” only a diehard Alouettes fan can really feel the disappointment and disgust at what the man did to what could have been something pretty special.
