My father and I bought Argo season tickets in 1967 when Leo was named
head coach. He was an emergency replacement for Bob Shaw who suddenly quit
after some dispute with management. He turned out to be the most exciting
coach and recruiter ever. It’s a shame he was one mistake away from a Grey Cup win. Later, when he was a color commentator with Ron Lancaster on CFL broadcasts, the pair made a great team and were the best ever at those jobs. My Dad and I kept our season tickets for 20 years, after Cahill’s last coming and football has never been the same since for me. RIP Leo. You have good company in Leon McQuay, Jim Stillwagon and ‘Tricky’ Dick Thornton to name a few.
