Yes, he got injured for the first time in three years in the CFL, but he was among the defensive leaders when it happened.
Kavis Reed said the team needed to develop young quarterbacks… then goes out and signs 30 year old Josh Freeman. Then they seem to be in a hurry to dump Kyries Hebert (despit 110 tackle season!) because of his age, but add 33 year old Westerman.
Kavis Reed, please explain.

Yeah…with you. The roughing penalties sorta balanced off the effectiveness. He was also a ratio changer but balanced off against his age and potential issues with durability going forward.
BUT… I think he also has some leadership qualities… at least I’ve gotten that impression…. I’m thoroughly and positively not sure what I think about losing him.

Improves our ratio. Assuming he plays. Only played 7 games last season. Production way down.
Great to see Kavis Reed keeping his word about the Alouettes “youth movement”. Westerman is only 32.
