I think this move is more about Ryan Lindley than Dominique Davis. Lindley played in the NFL and looked pretty good for Ottaw when he played. I think he’ll be Harris’s backup. Davis, if he makes the team, will be short yardage QB. Tate is just too injury prone and expensive. Still, I agree that Montreal should get him. He could be plan B, in case Josh Freeman can’t figure out CFL football in 2018. That’s a very real possibility too.

Tate was replaced by a barely experienced quarterback four years ago. Rewind a couple of years before that, and Tate was also a “barely experienced quarterback” who replaced a future hall-of-fame quarterback. Both of those things happened in Calgary.

You are actually correct when you say “This is exactly what is going on in Calgary with their players”. Calgary finds new talent to replace old talent.

Tate is already looking ahead to a coaching career. He may very well decide to hang up his cleats and move on to the next chapter of his life. If he does that, I hope he decides to come back to Calgary.

Dominique Davis is 28. He has lots of time to move from “barely experienced” to “experienced” to even possibly “pretty damn good” to “elite”.

So tell me, BttB – how old is your “experienced” quarterback, and what has he done lately?

The player carousel is worse than the coach carousel. Make the team salary cap $6 million (with one franchise player max) so players can stay and play. One thing to lose your job because someone is better not because teams can’t control their spending.

i think Wpg just got tired of waiting for the guy to show something in a game. But, the guy has the physical tools. He can run, not easy to bring down, got some SERIOUS arm strength. Football IQ? Questionable.

Not a total surprise, more of cap space move. Tate is injury prone, but I think there may be additional moves. Pretty slim depth if Trevor gets hurt. Davis never showed much in limited opportunities. Not sure if Lindley will show improvement but #4 Danny Collins has a big arm and should move up the chain.
