GM Hervey says talks ongoing with Lulay, Fenner, rest of Lions free agents to hit market

The Lions are actively involved in talks with two pending free agents according to 3DownNation’s Lowell Ullrich.

The 34-year-0ld quarterback threw for 1,693 passing yards and 10 touchdowns, but a season-ending knee injury suffered on September 8 against Montreal cut his 2017 campaign short. He “absolutely” wants to play in 2018.

Lulay has played nine seasons, all in B.C., passing for 18,858 yards, 113 touchdowns against 64 interceptions with a 63.9 completion rate and 94.2 QB rating. The Montana State product won the CFL MOP award in 2011 while leading the Lions to a Grey Cup victory at B.C. Place that same season.

Fenner has played two seasons for the Lions, really emerging in 2017 with 76 tackles, one sack and one interception while starting all 18 games at the strong-side linebacker position. The 27-year-old spent time with the Chiefs, Seahawks and Giants, playing 11 games for New York making seven tackles in 2014.

On offence offensive linemen Andrew Jones, Jaskaran Dhillon, Kirby Fabien, receiver Nick Moore will hit the open market. Over on the other side of the ball defensive linemen Alex Bazzie, Craig Roh, Bryant Turner, linebacker Adrian Clarke, defensive backs Anthony Jackson, Loucheiz Purifoy and Ronnie Yell are set to be free on Feb. 13.
