Well there you go! Jim has solved the problem again . Get rid of Canadian running backs by dumping the ratio. We don’t need Canadians in the Canadian Football League. After losing Rutley the Alouettes could do with a backup RB. And I’ve been concerned with the Alouettes “Canadian content”, especially on offence. A Canadian RB could be a major asset for the Alouettes. Assuming we have a quarterback, that is.

Harris and Messam led the league in rushing. Before that it was Cornish. All Can. You wanna bash the ratio, fine, but in the case of Can. running backs the proof is in the stats.

Hard to lead in any category when you started 0 & 8 and had a 60-2 loss. In the second half of the season tho the defense came together and played very well.

calgary has not had success identifying NI RB talent. The had one NI back (Cornish) that they identified, thats it. Messam was not identified by Calgary, he was purchased in a trade from the Riders. Messam has danced around the league and by no means was identifed by Calgary. Cornish was identified by Cal, give them that but no better than BC identifiying Harris as a talent.

Seems pretty clear to me iceman. He was benched by Lolley for the last 5 games. I wonder why? Hamilton had some hot D in the second half of the season, they claim league best, although they didn’t seem to lead in any category.

Those are 2 FB and 2 RB. Beaulieu and Gosslin would be used as FB- in very different play designs than the RB.

I agree with the caliber of backs, Calgary has been successful in identifying NI RB talent and used the position successfully to bust the ratio. It is big time competitive advantage, have to have some talented depth or versatility with the ratio to make it work.

Because Canadian CIS running backs are back ups, he was not as good as Powell or Madu in Ottawa and he wasn’t as good as the starting Riders RB.
He will never be a full-time starter, you have to prove that you are better than the starters, he can’t because he doesn’t have the talent.
He was never recruited by the Riders to be a starter.

Ottawa has four Canadian backs – Gillanders, Ilnicki, Beaulieu and Gosselin, all great CIS players but none will be starters.
