Yeah, size has added value in the NFL, but Butler played almost 50 games in the NFL himself. He’s a top tier DB who we’re lucky to have. He played for something like 8 different teams in 7 years so maybe he was looking for some stability, and I’d be very happy to have him right here for the next 5 years.

Of course with Jones we’re always going to have more than one option, and White has something like 17 NFL starts under his belt, so he’s a solid option as well. If you read the article I linked to above, however, it explains why Lyles struggled last year. He came from a DII school and he admits that he relied on his athleticism, but that now in the pros he’s having to learn his technique. Lyles is 6’4″ with sub 4.4 speed, however, so he’s an elite athlete. White could well win the job, but I’m sure we’ll keep Lyles around too if he does. That kind of size and speed doesn’t come around too often.

Yea I looked up on this Melvin White, after I figured out he wasn’t the mass murderer I read up on the real MW and I agree he sounds real good also smart and versatile. Must have looked good at a free agent canp…Looking good..Go Riders Go
