Receiver Kenny Stafford re-signs with Edmonton

Receiver Kenny Stafford has re-signed with the Edmonton Eskimos.

Stafford played in five games last season, making one start and registering 20 receptions for 265 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the year on the practice roster and was therefore a free agent after the season.

The 27-year-old signed a two-year contract with the Bombers in January 2017 worth approximately $120,000 per season but was released at the end of training camp before joining the Eskimos.

In September 2016, Stafford was involved in a practice confrontation with quarterback Rakeem Cato when the two were members of the Montreal Alouettes. Stafford’s cousin, fellow receiver Duron Carter, was also involved and the two were subsequently released by the club.

Stafford’s best CFL season came with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2015 when he had 47 catches for 732 yards and nine touchdowns in 18 games. He won a Grey Cup with the club.

In five CFL seasons, Stafford has appeared in 46 games and recorded 109 receptions for 1,479 yards and, 14 touchdowns.
