Carter had the exact same “legitimate” futures offer that the leagues leading receiver last season accepted. Difference is Carter already knows those offers mean next to nothing and turned them down.

Carter is sure having fun in Greenland. As a Ticat fan, I’m looking forward to destroying the Argos in week 12 and 13; then watching Carter -Collaros team up to destroy them in week 15; will be a sad series of games for the Argos. And their fans.

Every team got a slice. I don’t recall if the league was on the verge of folding altogether or what. It may well have been. I’m not really questioning that.

My point is that the notion that fans stepped up and collectively saved the club is historical cherry-picking. I did a quick search and oddly enough ended up on Rod Pedersen’s blog (’cause he’s the last person I thought would ever acknowledge it). Here’s how it was described by former president Tom Sheppard.

A week before the telethon, we were having a meeting and Vice-President Bob Ellard said to me ‘are we going to make it?’ I said it doesn’t look like we’re gonna make and it looks like we’re gonna have to fold the team.
