Montreal let Sam Giguere go soon after the calendar flipped to 2018, according to TSN reporter Farhan Lalji.
Being told that the #Alouettes released rec Sam Giguere 2 weeks ago. They may bring him back, but as of now he's apparently still out there as a FA. @CFLonTSN @cfl

The 32-year-old pass catcher missed the first seven games in 2017 with a hamstring injury. He returned to play in the final 11 contests making 11 catches for 107 yards and one touchdown. Giguere has been in Montreal since 2015 when he signed as a free agent coming over from Hamilton after spending the first three seasons of his CFL career with the Ticats. Giguere has played in 94 games recording 202 receptions for 2,458 yards and 13 touchdowns.
For an Alouettes team that needs to improve Canadian depth, allowing Giguere, a solid national starter, to become a free agent seems unwise.
