I prefer “Canadian” too, but National is still better than what we were called before: “Non-imports”! Think about it. It says what we AREN’T. It’s like Americans…and NON-Americans. LOL
To confuse matters even further, you said since Solomon Eliminian is originally from Nigeria, it makes more sense to call him an International. Okay, but why is Australian Josh Bartel a national?
Commissioner Ambrosie, why is Josh Bartel considered a National… but Brandon Bridge and Andrew Buckley aren’t???

I even wrote to a Vancouver sports writer two years ago cuz they have been calling them PAT’s for a ‘few’ years now. He basically told me more important things to worry about in life. I the that we do everything the americans do.

As far as Nationals / Internationals, not all internationals are American (Solly for example is Nigerian) but went to school in the Excited states, might even stay BUT…So I do not have an issue with Internationals but a Canadian is a Canadian and this IS the CANADIAN Football League !!!! We can always refuse to use the terms and keep calling them Canadian and imports. I do. I can see how ‘imports’ might make players feel like a sack of potatoes from Idaho however is like I said, International works for me but not Nationals.

why does the CFL make awkward and stupid attempts to avoid calling American players ‘American’ and Canadian players ‘Canadian’?

political correctness at its best (worst)

when the Canadian Football League and the media are forced into calling Canadian players ‘nationals’ it’s pretty nauseating

historically, the beauty of the CFL was that we had CANADIAN players…not f’in ‘nationals’
