In reply to Tom calder. Chris Williams is injury prone & had a rough season in B.C., a risky signing at best. Sutton was a no-brainer re-signing. Freeman has yet to prove he's a capable quarterback in the pros. Cutting Durant was just cleaning up some of the mess Reed created in 2017. At least, if the Als are going to have another bad season might as well keep the costs down in 2018.

Reasons for cautious optimism: Sherman’s hire, whose pedigree gives him immediate credibility and respect. Surrounding him with 2 contemporary yet experienced OC & DC in Carter and Jones, adding Chris Williams, Tyrone Sutton, josh Freeman, cutting DD lose. He’s begun to assemble an improved roaster both player and coaches. With improved quarterback play, they could be respectable in 2018 and not the train wreck they were this past season.

Popp got his teams to the playoffs (albeit in the East) for like 20 straight years. He gets a pass. Reed has done nothing but fail and pass the buck on responsibility. He has failed at every position he has had since he retired as a player. The Montreal owner has to be on a suicide mission to keep this guy as GM.

As for not having regrets trading two picks for a guy who turned out to be overpaid and needing to retire leading to a 3-15 record, he’s absolutely mental if he truly has no regrets. And no, it wasn’t the right decision last year.

There is so bashing of Reed. It was popp who traded brandon bridge and chappy who couldn’t tolerate duron carter. The Als demise started long be for he arrived. Intrusive ownership who think they know football. I think kavis and Mike Sherman have begun to right the ship.
