Former Riders head coach Danny Barrett fired by Dolphins

Danny Barrett has been relieved of his duties as Miami Dolphins running backs coach, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

The 56-year-old spent two seasons in Miami.

He was in the mix as the Montreal Alouettes conducted their head coach search which ultimately resulted in Mike Sherman being hired.

Barrett has plenty of CFL experience both as a player and a coach. He spent 16 years at quarterback with four different teams and served as head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 2000 to 2006, compiling a 57-68-1 regular season record and 3-5 in the playoffs. After that Barrett spent the better part of a decade with U.S. college teams.
