Johnny Manziel’s contract demands have Riders offensive lineman Derek Dennis – and likely others around the league – laughing.
Fellow Saskatchewan offensive lineman Josiah St. John feels the team that signs the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner could get a return on their investment but Dennis delivered more real talk about the CFL.
Dennis spent two years on a rookie contract in the CFL, winning the league’s Most Outstanding Lineman award in the final year of that deal. He hit every single possible bonus and made $71,500 in 2016. Saskatchewan made him one of the highest paid American offensive lineman in the league, signing Dennis as a free agent in 2017. So he knows what it’s like to “earn his stripes” in Canada.
