Two names surface in Riders QB and receiver coach search

There are a couple notable names in the mix to become Saskatchewan’s quarterbacks and receivers coach, according to Riders radio man Rod Pedersen.

As the calendar prepares to flip to January, the Riders are still in search of a QB coach and a receivers coach. Names which have surfaced include Khari Jones and Travis Moore. Both have served in Saskatchewan before and would be welcome additions.

Jones won the CFL MOP award in 2001 and played nine years before joining the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as the quarterbacks’ coach in 2009, then promoted to offensive coordinator in 2011. Jones moved on to Saskatchewan for two seasons as the Riders quarterbacks coach in 2012 and 2013. Then he was hired by the B.C. Lions as offensive coordinator for four years before he was let go after the 2017 season.

Moore was a three-time CFL all-star receiver as a player and joined the coaching ranks with Jones at the same time with Hamilton in 2009 as the Ticats running backs coach. He was the receivers coach in B.C. for three seasons, Edmonton for one year and Ottawa for the past four.

Jarious Jackson was hired away from Saskatchewan to be the Lions offensive coordinator and Marcus Howell joined him to be the receivers coach and passing game coordinator on the Left coast, which created the openings in Saskatchewan.
