New Alouettes head coach Mike Sherman: we will win a Grey Cup or two or three

Mike Sherman believes the Alouettes are going to be Grey Cup champions under his watch and maybe more than just once.

“The people here expect to win and they want to win and they demand that you win, as they should…there will come a point where yeah we will win a Grey Cup or two or three,” Sherman said on TSN 690 radio in Montreal.

The Alouettes last Grey Cup win seems far away even though it was 2010. Sherman signed a two-year deal plus a team option, so he’ll have at least that much time to get the Als to some CFL championships.

Montreal lost 11 straight games to finish the 2017 season at 3-15, the worst record in the league. Since Marc Trestman left for the NFL in 2013, there have been five different head coaches in La Belle Province: Dan Hawkins, Jim Popp (twice), Tom Higgins, Jacques Chapdelaine and Kavis Reed. Over that span, the Alouettes have a 33-55 record and have missed the playoffs three consecutive seasons, tying a franchise-worst streak.

Sherman has a big turnaround job in front of him but at least he has the confidence for it.
