Canadian Kevin Abrams interviews for Giants full-time GM job

The New York Giants have interviewed interim general manager Kevin Abrams for the team’s permanent position.

Abrams is the fourth candidate to interview for the job to replace Jerry Reese, who was fired this month along with coach Ben McAdoo at the tail end of a lost season.

Team officials said Friday that Abrams spoke with team President John Mara and Ernie Accorsi, the team’s former general manager.

Abrams has been assistant general manager for 16 years after being promoted by Accorsi, and is the Giants’ primary negotiator on player contracts. He was previously the team’s salary cap analyst.

Abrams is one of three candidates with significant ties to the franchise. Marc Ross is the team’s vice-president of player evaluation, while Dave Gettleman was a personnel executive for the Giants for 15 years and also was GM for the Carolina Panthers. The Giants also interviewed Louis Riddick, an ESPN analyst and former personnel director for Washington and Philadelphia.
