Mike Sherman’s contract seems to be in line with others around the East Division.
The 63-year-old former NFL head coach agreed to a deal that’s two years plus a team option, per sources.
Hamilton handed June Jones a three-year pact earlier in December for turning around the Ticats in 2017 while Marc Trestman came on board for three years in Toronto last February. Redblacks head man Rick Campbell agreed to an extension this spring that’s set to keep him in Ottawa through 2020.
Sherman joins Jones and Trestman as East Division rivals who have NFL head coach experience. The Alouettes bench boss guided the Green Bay for six years from 2000-2005 compiling a 61-47 record, leading the Packers to four playoff berths including three straight NFC North Division titles. Jones had a 22-36 record and one NFC Wild Card playoff appearance while in Atlanta from 1994-1996. Trestman went 13-19 in two seasons with the Chicago Bears 2013 and 2014.
Jones and Trestman turned around their respective teams and the Alouettes are looking for the same from Sherman.
