With the Montreal Alouettes set to make some kind of announcement at 11 a.m.on Wednesday, there’s been plenty of speculation about the coaching situation.
The latest juicy tidbit came from Alouette’s play-by-play man Rick Moffatt via Instagram last night…
That theory seems to be gaining some steam, first via Gazette beat man Herb Zurkowsky…
Mike Sherman’s name should not be discounted. Kavis Reed paid special attention to what Hamilton accomplished under June Jones. #Als want a “name” with NFL and NCAA experience https://t.co/Y9AH6rFRUd

And then TSN’s Dave Naylor….
Last Tweet on the @MTLAlouettes head coaching story before I turn in: 2 sources tonight say they believe the Als may hire former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike Sherman. ‘Night 🌙

So if the @MTLAlouettes do introduce Mike Sherman as their new head coach today, that’d mean 3/4 teams in the East will be led by former NFL head coaches. The 4th — Ottawa’s Rick Campbell — his father was an NFL (and CFL) head coach. #CFL

I’ve been hearing for years that Montreal’s owners wanted to find “the next Trestman”. At least in the sense of having multilple stops as an NFL OC, Mike Sherman is that. https://t.co/2DzltfrgYU

Of course earlier on Thursday, Gary Crowton had been the name being floated…
Lots of names on rumour mill for who the @MTLAlouettes will introduce as head coach on Wed. Most have been disproven. Here's one that has not: Gary Crowton, former OC with @Wpg_BlueBombers 2012-13. Name first floated by @HerbZurkowsky1. Long resume includes LSU and @ChicagoBears

More @MTLAlouettes coaching news. According to sources former CFL QB Kerry Joseph was contacted about OC job, but is not coming to Mtl. Much speculation that Rich Stubler is front-runner as DC based on relationship with GM Kavis Reed. #CFL #Als

Gary Crowton was OC with the @Wpg_BlueBombers at the same time Joe Mack was GM. Mack is now assistant GM in Montreal. #CFL #Als

I’ve been told Kerry Joseph and Rich Stubler could be part of #Als’ coaching equation – but as offensive and defensive co-ordinators, respectively.

There has been a steady flow of reporting, rumour and speculation on the Alouettes’ coaching situation for weeks so who knows what’s true at this point? But that general manager Kavis Reed could be recruiting offensive and defensive coordinators – instead of, say, allowing a head coach to bring in his own guys – makes about as much sense anything else in this whole process.
UPDATE: No, Joseph is out.
Now I’m told Kerry Joseph is not part of the equation. Staying at NcNeese State
