McCain is based in New Brunswick not Nova Scotia and not known to support sports teams in another province or in their own province.
The biggest employer in Halifax is the military.

In reply to jim. Marketing is all about serving needs. One need is to satisfy a love of football. But another need is recognition and respect. TO doesn't feel it needs any CFL success to gain that. Maritimers do.

Just read about the junior hockey approach to letting the home team into Memorial Cup. Why? Because locals have little interest in supporting games when the local team is out. So … is it any different in football? As for the SK model … the team is publicly owned. Would have died years ago under a profit model. ‘Enemies’ of the team make fun of it being a charity … but its considered part of the ‘culture’. Most culture is not profitable.

I don’t think Ambrosia is talking about over 100 years of history we have here. It’s more about a smaller center who has provincial wide support and on the road across Canada. There are fans in Sask who have season tickets from 3 hours away, and further. You get families and groups of friend travelling. Maybe build a rowdy University section (at a discount price)like we had and where I sat in the 90’s. Like someone above said hold training camps in other cities. Make it a true Atlantic team. Did they do a potential season ticket drive? Of course the major hurdle is a stadium. It can be done and used for many other events other than football.

I agree that the team should not rely on regional travel…which is a big reason why I think the team should be in Halifax and not Moncton. Who is going spend hours traveling to watch an expansion team lose? There will be some fans who will travel but the team will have to rely on the locals when losing.

Also it’s just over 2 Hours from HFX to Moncton, 3 Hours from HFX to Charlottetown and just over 4 hours from HFX to Fredericton or Saint John.

In reply to jim. Jim your information is seriously flawed. The group in Toronto is so messed up they couldn’t even make the Grey Cup work. In the last week leading up to Grey Cup They were so bad at promoting the event they were giving away Grey Cup Tickets with the purchase of a large pizza at Pizza Hit. They lost Milions of dollars on that fiasco. The CFL will do just fine in the Maritimes.

In reply to jim. I did some further research and they did in fact play a preseason game in QC in 2015. The reported attendance was about 4700. Must have blocked it from my memory. That whole season was screwed up over women's soccer. My bad.

Duplicate the Saskatchewan experience? How do you do that? In Saskatchewan you have history of football over 100 years. The Roughriders are the third-oldest professional gridiron football team in existence today. You have a long standing and loyal fan base throughout the province that was brought up and raised on football.
You have people of spirit and heart that live and die with the green and white. At a very young age I learned that they were my team no matter I would end up living. It’s all about heart. It’s about tradition. The Rider’s in Saskatchewan are about tradition. There is no formula for instant tradition. The tradition is passed on from generation to generation. Duplicating the Saskatchewan experience maybe if you have 100 years?
