i dont think people realize that Bridge is more than good enough to start as QB in the CFL but is being held back by an unintended side effect of the ratio rule and its QB exemption. Thus the rules intended to favor Canadians is hurting Bridge. Which is usually what happens when you meddle with what for all other jobs in Canada is a free employment market based on merit, supply, and demand. Which is how Capitalism works so well and N. Korea and Cuba do not.

While Ambrosie has nothing but good intentions I worry about his methods and ends.
He is rushing through things without thought. From taking away a challenge (and possibly costing Calgary a cup as a result) to adding an additional bye/ paddless practices. Trying to harbor Manziel into the CFL is a bad idea. It makes the league look desperate.

Of most urgent concern is his meeting coming up with Bridge. Why would anyone in his right mind do this? He is setting himself up for scrutiny. He’s either going to set a policy that only helps sask in the immediate or he’s going to boost Bridge’s leverage in contract negotiations.

Everyone one is entitled to his or her opinion on Manziel. What is disappointing are the comments which are sovopppsed to a young talented football player who had an addiction and wants a second chance to play football.

In reply to Footballnut. I'm sure that they are as excited about him playing up here as they were when Lawrence Phillips and Art Schlichter had their tour of duty in the CFL. The signing may get attention at first but would soon turn into laughter and ridicule. Not a good way to promote the league.

Like it or not some of the people on this board need to realize that Manziel is a name that counts with football people down south and many young folk here in Canada . Rather hear about him than a c.i.s. Qb any day … whats Cleveland’s record without him ????

Some of the “no names” that are signed around this time of year actually have some pretty interesting backgrounds. I’d rather hear about that than what a good dude Manziel is supposed to be now.

The only people talking about Manziel is the sports media including 3 Down Nation. Time to start discussing and promoting the real prospects that have been signed by CFL teams and also current players in the system that are developing. Any one of these guys have the capability to become “the best player ever” as well. Even if they don’t, unlike Manziel, they can become excellent leaders and role models (see Glenn, Lulay, Thick Nik Lewis, etc). This guy is a chump.
